It was evening and the sky was turning orange. I had just finished the watering plants in our garden and turned off the tap and had been walking back to my home when I heard of water gushing through the tap and looked back mystified at the tap but it was turned off. I searched for the source of the noise and found that it was coming from the house next door. That house has been empty for nearly two weeks and I was amazed to hear the sound of water flowing. I guessed that some rusty pipe might have started off. So, I proceeded to the front door and took out the spare key from a flower pot and went inside. Inside there was complete darkness as all windows have been boarded up. After my eyes had adjusted to the dim lighting, I looked around the large empty spaces; the house looked quite bereft of its glamour without any furniture. The place was filled with a stale of loneliness and everywhere prevailed a quiet except the sound of the water flowing. I passed the spooky hallway and entered the kitchen but found all the taps were turned off there.
I followed the sound it was coming from the backyard. I pushed open the adamant door with my shoulder and entered and then I found the culprit who had disturbed me for such a long time. It was the backyard’s tap from which the water was flowing in an already overfilled bucket. I turned off the tap everything was eerily quiet, not a single leaf stirred. I looked at the filled up bucket and decided that it would be bad to waste that water and started to haul the bucket and water all the plants in the backyard. The air was filled with the fragrance of the moist soil and a cool breeze started to flow. Every plant that had been watered felt relieved and swayed happily with the breeze. After I had watered them all I looked at the garden which was looking much alive and in those plants I could sense a life. It seemed like their souls wanted to convey some message. The feeling was so strong that I could feel the presence of a spirit amongst them so, I spoke to it that whenever your plants are thirsty call me the same way you did today and I would surely reach before the bucket fills. All plants waved in synchronization after this little speech of mine, they seemed to be thanking me for this act. I accepted their thanks and went home.
Plants are truly calling for their survial. Still less are responding to them. Great Job👍
