The Perfect Party

Once upon a time (just a year back I mean) came a hideous, dangerous and villainous virus named Corona.
He became the main antagonist of our story.
This story is about a grade tenth batch who spent many years studying together in Mind Tree School but in their last year the villain took over.
A lockdown was imposed and we all were forced to sit down at our homes and study virtually. Really a monotonous routine for all of us. Now the entire year has come to an end. Our antagonist has finally started to recede slowly.
But not so fast enough, hence our school couldn’t give us a farewell.
So, some of us (the organizers) thought of a wonderful plan to celebrate a last day TOGETHER before we all leave to a new school, a farewell party was planned.
After thousands of messages and discussions the date, time, venue and contri was decided.
27th March 2021 became that special day for all of us when we celebrated our first ever non-official farewell.
We followed all Corona norms and gathered at the venue.
The hall was as beautifully adorned as any fairy tale.
The guests (we all of course!) were dressed in multiple hues.
All those shades and designs opened my eyes wide. Last year had just let me see the black of my laptop and white of my sheet. After a long being confronted by them I could just say we were a rainbow gathering.
Soon people sat along in separate groups (mostly section-wise). It was fun to see Aryan counting members repeatedly. It was nice to say a ‘Hi’ to everyone and get a Hi back in return.
There was so much activity going on that I had to continuously crane my neck to absorb it all.
I think in the beginning many people felt bored. So, the talks ceased for some time as people attacked the snacks that were served. Anger really does dissipates when we eat.
Finally, when phones, snacks and talks were leading to monotony, it was proposed that we all play a game.
Everyone put their foot down. A clear majority and a ‘no-game bill’ was passed.
So, to break the bore streak the DJ played and people danced to the beats. How nice do people dance!
It’s really amazing to see everyone dancing. I move silently about noting how happy everyone looked. Music really is a natural healer.
I even found out that even among party dancers there were different types.
Some dancers are the heart and soul of the stage. The stage’s their home and they keep dancing in the middle until the very end.
Then there are some people who come and pull others on the dance floor.
There are the ones who know less dance themselves but are fast learners and mime others’ steps.
Also some are so stable dancers that they can record the dances as well as dance themselves.
And finally there is me who knew none of these hit Punjabi songs nor their iconic moves. So, I just spent time out of everyone’s vision as to not be pulled in for a dance.
After dancing comes food. We have really become hungry after all this workout. Hence, all the main courses are devoured quickly.
The dessert Vanilla Ice-Cream with Hershey’s syrup was too yummy.
The photographer too arrived after dessert and soon the hall was filled with clicks and calls- calls of calling each other to come in frame.
Then people brought out their old school shirts and we wrote messages on them.
Finally, the titles were given and everyone heaved a sigh as it was time to go home.
And I realized how quickly these five hours had passed. Surely while reading a history chapter even so much time can’t be passed.

The party was a huge success. It was truly a perfect party.
We all had a great time. Our story truly had a happy ending.
And we all lived happily ever after…

But friends, is life lively if it is already happy? It’s the struggles that makes its fruits tastier. It’s the antagonist that makes that protagonist stronger.
This pandemic made us stronger and gave us new experiences. We now stand on a new threshold of life and surely we all would sail far and wide.
We would shatter every peril with our optimism.
How happy we all were on our farewell.
Prisha was smiling throughout the party in spite of her injuries. She shone bright like a candle.
Pratham and Mehul performing a beautiful duet on stage.
Rupanzel speaking gallantly that she was enjoying the fullest and doesn’t care if anyone wasn’t.
Rishkirat being great with the microphone.
Anshika changing her dresses for her graceful dance performance.
Vishwas talking happily in his ‘Santa’ coat.
Annanya, Khushi, Jiya and almost every girl in the party posing for the perfect pictures.
Eshaan smiling broadly in a multi-colored shirt.
Kanupriya and Vyusti being great while organizing everyone in for the group picture.
Naaz and Shreeya chatting together avidly and having only moments to spare for interview.
Shashwat engaging many in his bottle flip challenge. I still ponder how his bottle used to land perfectly.
Harshita dancing with vigor on the ‘Balla’ song.
Shivam annoying me as usual (But he limited it a bit this time).

We all were really happy, pleased, Joyous, gleeful and all the other synonyms of happy.
Even though this pandemic cut of our contact but still we remained friends and would continue to be. True friends are apart in distance but not in heart.
We emerged victorious and this is just one of the victory.
It made us realize how happiness can become a great weapon.
Even the greatest of trouble can be solved with happiness or music or food or anything you adore.

Thank you everyone for making my day and helping me write this piece.
